Long Bridge Swim 2010 BCSAR volunteers once again assisted with the Long Bridge Swim, an annual event held in late July or early August. The SAR's mission is to watch for and report swimmers who might be having difficulties during the 1.75 mile swim. Eric Ridgeway, Director, sent the following message to the SAR Commander: Thank you so much for helping to make the 2010 Long Bridge Swim such a Splashing Success!!! 696 swimmers started and 674 ran or crawled out onto the welcoming sands of Dog Beach on their own power. 22 swimmers enjoyed the comforts of a boat ride onto the beach. Lots of beaming faces, proud family members, and many with a sense of huge accomplishment!!! Thank you for being a part of Safety and making all of this possible for so many 100's of crazy swimmers. The 7 year old child, and the 80 year old woman both made it in great time and were an inspiration to others. I can't wait until next year!!! We are learning and improving as an organization every year...
